Just weeks before Christmas 2023, Ohio Pet Charities (OPC) received an urgent plea to foster a stray 14-month-old Bull Terrier mix found wandering in downtown Columbus. With no collar, microchip, or way to identify an owner, OPC stepped in and gave her a safe place to land. She was lovingly named Willow by her foster family, who quickly discovered what a smart, affectionate, and resilient pup she was.
Recognizing her need for veterinary care, OPC enrolled Willow in the Furry Friends Fund, ensuring she received all necessary vaccinations and a full medical evaluation. An X-ray revealed an abnormality in her rear hip, but thanks to the expert care of Dr. Haver at Faithful Friends Veterinary Clinic, it was determined that surgery wasn’t needed at this time—though it may require attention later in life. Since Willow was in heat, her spay was scheduled for a later date, with Faithful Friends generously offering the procedure for just $99.
As Willow settled in, OPC provided basic training to help her prepare for her forever home. This bright and eager pup quickly showed off her intelligence—and it wasn’t long before she caught the eye of a loving family. They instantly fell in love and knew she was meant to be part of their lives. Even more special? Willow would become a companion to their deaf dog, offering friendship and support in a way only another pup could.
Now renamed Cookie, she’s thriving in her forever home, living her best life and bringing joy to her new family.
This is why we do what we do. 💙🐾
