Jasper’s Tail: From Parking Lot to Purring Lovebug

Meet Jasper Orion McBeans, a sweet and friendly orange tabby whose three great loves in life are sleeping, snuggling, and eating fish-flavored treats.

In late March 2025, Jasper was found lying in the middle of a grocery store parking lot, confused and stressed. After learning about his plight, employees from the nearby Hollywood Feed pet supplies store were able to find the frightened kitty and gently coax him into a pet carrier.

They reached out to Ohio Pet Charities (OPC), who quickly authorized emergency evaluation at Veterinary Emergency Group. While there was no need for immediate treatment, Jasper was referred to a primary care vet for a more comprehensive workup.

Since attempts to reach out online and through local rescues have not succeeded in finding his original owners, Jasper has spent the past few weeks at a foster home where he can heal and de-stress in a safe and caring environment. His foster home is also where he received his regal new name – Jasper Orion McBeans.

Despite having a tipped ear that might suggest he was feral or a longtime stray, as Jasper has adjusted to his foster home it has become abundantly clear that this big guy is a mature, well-mannered gentleman – probably somewhere between 6- to 9- years old – who is used to a cozy indoor lifestyle. Not only that, but he has a sweet, inquisitive personality and very much enjoys exploring, getting treats, and curling up on a comfy chair or lap for a good nap.

Medical Journey:

Unfortunately, since being rescued, Jasper has needed extensive veterinary care. Jasper’s foster took him to Chittenden Veterinary Clinic in Columbus, where he received comprehensive care. It was determined that Jasper did not have a microchip but had been previously neutered, which supports the theory that he was once an indoor cat who may have been abandoned by his previous owners or caretakers.

When he was found, Jasper had a wound on his belly which required a surgical procedure to remove damaged tissue. In addition, he experienced a worrying reaction to one of his vaccinations and needed follow-up care. Thankfully, the OPC Furry Friends Fund was able to cover the costs of Jasper’s medical care and give him a huge boost on his road toward a happier, healthier future.

Ready for His Forever Home:

Thanks to the support and dedication of his foster and his veterinary team, Jasper is now on the mend, and ready for adoption. He’s a sweet, loving, and resilient kitty who has overcome a lot of hardships and is ready to offer endless snuggles to the family that welcomes him home.
